Stairville CX3 LED PARs in Master/Slave mode

We have some Stairville CX3 LED PARs in our rental stock.
Usually we control them via the lighting desk and DMX in 8channel mode.
For a small setup with limited budget, we wanted to run them in master/slave mode (music controlled) without a desk and operator to turn down the costs.

I’ve daisy chained the fixtures, put the first one in master mode and the following 7 fixtures in slave mode, as described in the manual.
Unfortunately this didn’t work at all, no matter what setting I tried for the addresses.

The solution was to put the fixtures in 4 channel mode.

Then the master was address 1 and the other fixtures were setup accordingly.
We had 8 of them on 2 windups with aluminum bars.
Therefore I set the channels in the following order

-Master–Slave–Slave–Slave- -Slave–Slave–Slave–Slave
—–(1)——-(1)——(2)—–(2)———–(2)——-(2)—–(1)——(1)

This means the outer 4 and the inner 4 fixtures showed the same behavior.
Of course you can change this to your own demand and taste.
